Training Course: Meaningful way. Innovation in youth participation repertories

7-14 May 2023 | San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain

We will explore new ways of democratic participation and imagine and analyze its impact. We will see what has been done already and gather the good practices.

Have you ever thought about the different ways a person can be active and can be heard? Do you think is better to act from the local level or international level? Why are some social transformation actions more effective than others? Are there more effective in every context? Are you creative enough to imagine new ways of peaceful political participation? Are you willing to share some of them, debate and be ready to open your ears and listen to others´ ideas? This project is the space to explore new ways of democratic participation and imagine and analyze its impact. For that, we will see what has been done already and gather the practices that work in the local communities of the participants and create others.

Aim: To empower 26 participants to participate in their local communities by equipping them with tools to extend their repertory of peaceful political participation.

Objectives:

  • To equip participants with knowledge on concepts of peace, violence, conflict, peaceful political participation, the culture of peace and human rights;
  • To explore the concepts of direct democracy and non-violent actions and advocacy as tools to promote the culture of peace;
  • To map and analyze social issues that can be tackled by peaceful political participation methods at the local level;
  • To explore pre-existing good practices and create a catalogue of peaceful political participation repertories for youth organizations and disseminate it at the European level;
  • To design and present at least six local follow-up actions based on the learnings and conclusions of the training.
  • To create a network of cooperation to exchange good practices, tools and materials that already work in the local communities.
