The Opportunity – TABLA Programme Coordinator, Republika Srpska (Banja Luka or other location), BiH, National Positon Only

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 
Save the Children seeks a Program Coordinator for activities implemented in the Republika Srpska under the USAID-funded General Education Activity (TABLA). The goal of the TABLA project is to strengthen the ability of the educators to encourage students in the 4Cs (Critical thinking, Creativity, Communication and Collaboration) and applied STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) knowledge and skills in order to reach their full potential and positively impact the social and economic development of the country. To prepare students and teachers for the demands of the 21st century, Save the Children, is taking a comprehensive and innovative approach to improving students’ learning outcomes in STEAM subjects through building teachers’ capacity, increasing standards for pre-service and in-service teacher training, improving students’ learning environments, and encouraging reform dialogue and advocacy, thus increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the Bosnian-Herzegovina (BiH) education system.
All four components of the TABLA project are carried out in cooperation with education authorities in Canton Sarajevo Canton, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, and the Republika Srpska, and include: 

1.    Pre-service Teacher Training: TABLA provides support to select teaching faculties at targeted universities to increase standards for pre-service teacher training and to incorporate critical thinking and applied knowledge skills in STEAM subjects in the pre-service curricula. 
2.    In-service Teacher Training: TABLA supports the Ministries of Education in Canton Sarajevo, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, and the Republika Srpska to institutionalize high quality in-service training and professional development for teachers within their education systems. 
3.    Quality Learning Environments: TABLA improves the learning environment in select schools by providing the physical tools and equipment necessary for applied learning in STEAM subjects. 
4.    Education Reform Dialogue: TABLA promotes discussion and debate on education reform with relevant stakeholders in response to Bosnia-Herzegovina’s results in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018, a worldwide study of students’ scholastic performance on mathematics, science and reading, and the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2019, which provides international trends in mathematics and science achievement.

Under the leadership of the TABLA Chief of Party, the RS Program Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of activities and reporting on all four components of the TABLA project implemented in cooperation with education authorities in Republika Srpska. S/he will be responsible for ensuring activities meet stated goals and reporting requirements, as well as quality, timeliness, and efficiency of all products and activities. S/he will be required to work closely with other TABLA team members, partner organizations, and institutional stakeholders.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have: 

•    At minimum 3-5 years’ experience in working in education or related field; 
•    Experience of working in provision of sustainable pre-service or in-service capacity building interventions within education sector;
•    Solid understanding of trends and best practices in 21st century education, including the importance of the 4Cs (critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration) and the STEAM approach to education;  
•    Excellent in English communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to write reports in English;
•    Excellent training, facilitation, and communication skills;
•    Excellent personal organisational skills, including time management and ability to work under pressure;
•    Willingness to travel to different locations in BiH; 
•    Experience with project cycle management and sub-award management;
•    Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation;
•    Familiarity with USAID or USG regulations and policies is an advantage;
•    Familiarity with education reform processes, competent institutions and agencies in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina;
•    Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain professional relationships with government counterparts is desired;
•    Excellent ability to obtain, analyse, and evaluate complex data and to organize and present these in a meaningful and concise way internally/externally; 
•    Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children, the organizational mandate and child safeguarding.
