A week with the method of the Brazilian pedagogist Paulo Freire, according to the reworking and adaptation carried out by Gino Piccio

28th edition of the Paulo Freire National Week, Paulo Freire’s Method of Consciousness, “Creating something that doesn’t yet exist it has to be the ambition of all who are alive” by Anna Zumbo, Gabriel Popham, Irene Romeo, Rocco Paolo Padovano and Simone Deflorian, Parma (Italy), 17th – 22th August 2026.

A week of non-formal training with the method of Brazilian pedagogist Paulo Freire, according to the reworking and adaptation performed by Gino Piccio. The method of Paulo Freire it is placed at the initial stage of the Processes Participatory.

Aims to activate the participation of young people in the resolution of problems that live in the context in which they live.

In the week of experimentation participants are in the process (anthropologically understood) with theirselves. It is a week of real direct application of the pedagogical method also with young people living in the village. Days are a continuum between work manual in the morning, research and application of the method in the afternoon and exercises in the evening, in which the group of youth workers / leaders / trainers can to develop its competences and skills to work with young people making also community life experience.

Methodology: The work methodology enhances the experience and anthropologically understood experience of the participants and assumes them as a resource for learning. Active methodologies are used to directly involve those present.

Participants: Participation is reserved for youth workers / leaders / trainers who want to develop their competences to work with and for young people and who can stay for the entire duration of the week. The context is multicultural. In recent years, people from all over Italy, other European countries and even America have participated. The event is open to all who speak and understand italian language.

Dates and Location: Date: Monday 17th August (h. 10) – Saturday 22th August 2026 (h. 16).
Location: Contile di Varsi, Parma (Italy).

Organizational Notes: The event is limited. The deadline for entries is set for 20th July 2025.
The week is self-managed. The costs of consumption (food and utilities) are divided among the participants.

Partecipants have to speak and understand italian language.
