Where do we draw the line? – Webinar on GROOMING and SAFER YOUTH WORK
E-learning
28 October 2025 | Online – zoom, Hungary
Youth work roles can blur boundaries opening risks for grooming— a process by which an adult builds a relationship with a young person to exploit them. The webinar explores what is grooming, how to spot the signs, prevent risks, and create safer spaces.
Have you ever witnessed a situation where an adult’s relationship with a young person felt “too close”? How did you respond?
In youth work settings roles and relationships can sometimes become blurred. Youth workers may simultaneously act as facilitators, mentors, supervisors, and companions. Participants may include minors, legal adults (18+), and peer leaders – all within the same group. This complex web of roles can lead to grey zones in boundaries, power dynamics, and appropriate behaviour…
One of the more insidious risks in these settings is GROOMING—a process by which someone builds a relationship with a young person (and often with adults around them) to gain access,
manipulate, and ultimately exploit the child or young adult.
During the webinar we will:

- how to recognize the signs of it;
- discuss the ways organizations and practitioners can create safer spaces and preventive measures to reduce the risks of it.
