Training Course: Ubuntu United Nations – World Leaders Academy

27 April – 8 July 2024 | ONLINE, Portugal

The UUN is a dialogue platform that seeks to bring changemakers worldwide to speak on issues affecting them, to learn and share ideas with leaders such as Nobel Peace Prize Laureates and other global leaders through Intergenerational dialogue.

Gathering 193 teams of youth leaders from all countries with a seat at the United Nations and inspiring them through the motto “Building Bridges: Youth for Unity in Diversity”, the UUN is an online initiative, with 5-themed seminars, promoted by Nobel Prize Laureates of Peace and former Heads of State.

// The event will be chaired by José Ramos-Horta and co-chaired by John Volmink, Ubuntu Global Network’s President and by Her Highness Princess Rym Ali this 25-hour certified training program aims to empower young people as agents of transformation at the service of communities, while discusses some of the most relevant worldwide issues through intergenerational dialogue.

// With the High Patronage of Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Portuguese Republic, UUN also has the participation of the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Antonio Guterres.

SEMINARS CALENDAR
The second edition of the UUN will be run in 2024, from April 27 to June 8 (Saturdays at 11:00 am GMT).
With that, the Ubuntu United Nations will start with the opening session, on the 27th of April, followed by five seminars:

  • Seminar 1, May 11th – Leading like Mandela: Human Dignity
  • Seminar 2, May 18th – Building Bridges: Inter-religious and Intercultural Dialogue
  • Seminar 3, May 25th – Overcoming Obstacles: Forgiveness and Reconciliation
  • Seminar 4,  June 1st – Ubuntu Lives: Civic Courage
  • Seminar 5, June 8th – I Have a Dream: Living Together in Peace

The legacy of world-renowned personalities such as Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Gandhi and Malala Yousafzai must be passed on to new generations, inspiring them to commit, through Bridge Building, Servant Leadership and Ethics of Care, to social justice, human rights advocacy and sustainable development.
This is what the Ubuntu United Nations seeks to achieve for and with young people from all over the world.

Applications are now open for all the participants who are highly motivated and available to attend 5 consecutive online seminars, always on Saturdays. Access to internet and English fluency are essential.
