Training for online facilitators “Bringing non-formal educaiton online”

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This activity is organised in the framework of the European cooperation project YES! GAM-EU: Youth Engagement Strategies and Gamification in the EU, a long term project develop in partnership with 5 organisations (YEU International, DYPALL Network, Sauga ANK, Active Bulgarian Society, La Fenice).

The project aims to make information about the EU available through innovative media channels in multiple languages, by engaging young people through an online simulation gaming platform and app and by creating virtual reality educational tools (check more in https://gamifyeu.org)

The web platform also allows young people to earn badges and reach goals, bringing them closer to the European Institutions through meetings and events, held in the five different partner countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Estonia, Portugal).

ORGANISERS

DYPALL Network is a European platform of over 60 civil society organisations and local authorities from more than 30 countries, that aims to involve young people in decision-making processes at local level, and thus enable municipal and regional authorities to address the needs and interests of youth, engage young people as active actors of problem-solving and increase the level of ownership, commitment and involvement of an important part of our communities (more information in www.dypall.com).

Youth for Exchange and Understanding (YEU) is an international Non-Governmental Youth organization established in 1986 in Strasbourg by a group of 120 young people from 11 different countries. YEU aims at increasing tolerance and awareness between different countries, cultures and traditions, and promoting a greater level of comprehension through the development of youth activities. The main aim of YEU is to promote peace, understanding, and co-operation between the young people of the world, in a spirit of respect for human rights. OBJECTIVES

.The aim of the training course is to equip facilitators and trainers active within the partners organisations of the GamifyEU collaboration project with the necessary competences to implement online educational activities with young people.

The objectives include:

  • to understand what changes within training activities happened due to the COVID-19 condition;
  • to explore and increase competences with ICT tools, necessary for online learning facilitation;
  • to reflect on the role of trainers/facilitators individually and as a team and as online facilitators;
  • to share hints and tips for online learning facilitation;
  • to practice the new tools and competences in simulations followed by feedback and supported by the trainer (mini-coaching) and
  • to create awareness of the importance of detailed preparation and standardisation.

The concept behind the training course involves following dimensions:

The creation of facilitators’ awareness in regards to the challenges and opportunities regarding online training and facilitation.

The transfer of trainer competences that are necessary for online facilitation, including knowledge, skills and attitudes/behaviours.

The coached creation, practice and feedback process through simulations of ‘real’ online workshops to work with national and international groups including:

getting to know and team building; online tools to increase motivation and participation; supporting personal and group learning and reflection; evaluation; other elements important for group dynamics on online non formal

HOW TO REGISTER

Profile of participants

The training will bring together trainers and facilitators from different European countries that are interested in developing the capacity to prepare, implement and evaluate online learning activities for young people.

Moreover, the participants must:

  • be able to work in English;
  • have relevant experience in training and/or facilitation
  • be highly motivated towards learning new tools and approaches
  • be supported by one partner organisation in the project consortium

Practical information

The meeting will be run on Zoom, with the use of different facilitation tools and non-formal education methodologies by the trainers from the DYPALL Network.
