Rural Inclusion international study visit in Latvia

Study Visit

6-10 October 2025 | Latvia

This three-day visit in Latvia explores how youth work is done in rural areas, especially smaller towns. Participants will meet local youth workers, share experiences, and discover ways to make youth participation more inclusive and engaging.

This three-day study visit in Latvia will take a closer look at how youth work happens in rural areas — especially in smaller towns and villages where young people may have fewer opportunities. Together we’ll explore how local communities involve young people, build inclusive activities, and create space for participation. By visiting three different municipalities, participants will meet youth workers, local leaders, and active young people, learning from real-life experiences, sharing ideas, and discussing how to make youth work more engaging and meaningful in the countryside.

Objectives of the Study Visit

Get a real feel for how youth work and participation look in smaller and more remote parts of Latvia, especially in rural municipalities.

Discover what’s working well, what’s still challenging, and what creative approaches are helping young people thrive in the countryside.

Share ideas, make new connections, and exchange experiences with others working in youth participation — it’s all about learning from each other.

Find out how Erasmus+ Youth Participation Projects can support stronger youth involvement in local decision-making.

This study visit is designed for:

  • Youth policy desk officers in municipalities
  • Elected representatives responsible for youth policy at the municipal level
  • Youth workers engaged in youth participation and community development
  • Young representatives from youth participation structures (e.g. youth councils, youth parliaments, committees)

Methodology

This study visit will be hands-on and based on non-formal learning — learning by doing, sharing, and reflecting. Here’s what to expect:

  • Field visits to rural municipalities that are actively working with young people
  • Conversations with local youth workers, community leaders, and experts
  • Plenty of space for sharing experiences and building connections with others involved in youth work

The goal is to inspire fresh ideas, give practical tools, and support participants in strengthening youth participation and inclusion in rural communities.
