{"id":49189,"date":"2025-12-17T22:37:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T20:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mladibl.com\/?p=49189"},"modified":"2025-12-17T22:47:44","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T20:47:44","slug":"2025-call-for-applications-for-the-western-balkans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mladibl.com\/?p=49189","title":{"rendered":"2025 Call for applications for the Western Balkans"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>We welcome applications from&nbsp;civil society organisations interested in internal strengthening that are either contributing to stronger collaboration and trust across ethnic divides or working towards responsible dealing with the past.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This call is for actors working in Albania, Bosnia &amp; Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/peacenexus.org\/proposal\/western-balkans-call-for-proposals-2025\/#why\">1. Why this call for proposals?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Civil society actors in the Western Balkans have been at the forefront of pushing for peaceful and democratic change for decades. This essential work is now undermined by\u202fdifferent factors. Activists and organisations that advocate for social change increasingly find themselves at the receiving end of various forms of hostility and pressure. This particularly affects those who challenge the\u202funfavourable\u202fstatus quo head-on,\u202fwhether they do so through a principled stance on dealing with the past issues, by trying to break ethnic and ideological bubbles, or by\u202fenabling local activism. The combination of long-term challenges and new sources of vulnerability and uncertainty means\u202fthat work aiming to transform dividing lines and build a peaceful future has never been more important. It also means that many organisations\u202fdoing that are finding themselves at\u202fa\u202fcrossroads,\u202fbeing forced to adapt significantly to stay both afloat and impactful.\u202f\u202fOur process support\u202fis\u202fa great opportunity\u202ffor organisations wanting to proactively\u202fadapt to changing circumstances.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In these uncertain\u202fand\u202fdifficult\u202ftimes,\u202fPeaceNexus\u202fwill\u202fcontinue\u202fto\u202finvest\u202fin organisations and initiatives\u202fthat aim to bridge divides.\u202fWe will select\u202fbrave organisations and initiatives\u202fand provide them\u202fwith\u202fbreathing space and\u202ftailored support\u202fto get stronger internally.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Through our\u202f<strong>organisational development<\/strong>\u202f<strong>support\u202f(<\/strong><strong>OD)<\/strong><strong>,\u202f<\/strong>we wish to partner with actors\u202fwhose primary focus is to contribute to\u202fsustainable peace and\u202freconciliation and who wish to become\u202fstronger\u202f\u202fby\u202ftackling key internal challenges.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Through our\u202f<strong>conflict\u202fsensitivity\u202fsupport<\/strong><strong>\u202f(CS),<\/strong>\u202fwe wish to support actors\u202fwho\u202fdo not necessarily have a focus on reconciliation but are interested in contributing to\u202fbridging\u202fdivides and fostering\u202finterethnic trust\u202fthrough their broader mandate.\u202f<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In both areas of support<\/strong>, we work with\u202fyou as\u202fpartners\u202fon organisational change\u202fto help\u202fyou overcome\u202finternal challenges that hinder\u202fyour effectiveness and ability to reach\u202fyour\u202fown goals.\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested in applying, please browse the following sections and consult this detailed\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/peacenexus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DRAFT-2025-WB-Call-General-Overview.pdf\">Overview of the Call<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/peacenexus.org\/proposal\/western-balkans-call-for-proposals-2025\/#offering\">2. What are we offering?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PeaceNexus\u202f(PN)\u202faccompaniment\u202fsupport will take the form of:\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A non-financial component in the form of close and direct accompaniment<\/strong>\u00a0by\u202ftwo PN staff members\u202fwho will dedicate\u202ftime and OD &amp; CS expertise\u202fto your organization and will be available throughout the partnership to help you\u202fprogress on your own\u202fOD\/CS\u202fgoals, act as sounding boards, or brainstorm adaptations when needed. For more details on our accompaniment approach, see section.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Financial\u202fcomponent\u202f<\/strong>in the form of a small grant ranging from 15\u2019000 to\u202f40\u2019000 per year to cover external\u202fexpertise\u202fand process costs (for example,\u202ffor meeting costs, fees of specialised consultants, capacity development investments).\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We do not offer project\u202for core funding, but up to 20% of our grants can be dedicated to overhead costs.\u202fThe size of the grant depends on the size of the organisation and on its geographic scale,\u202fwith larger grants being meant for regional entities.\u202f&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/peacenexus.org\/proposal\/western-balkans-call-for-proposals-2025\/#who\"><br>3. Who can apply?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of eligibility criteria is included below under section III&nbsp;of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/peacenexus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DRAFT-2025-WB-Call-General-Overview.pdf\">Overview document of the Call<\/a>, but in brief we are looking for applicants&nbsp;who:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>work in one\u202for more\u202fof the following countries:\u202f\u202fAlbania, Bosnia &amp; Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>are a civil society organisation, foundation, network or intergovernmental or multilateral organisation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>already have an impact\u202fon social cohesion\u202for are interested\u202fin\u202fcontributing\u202fto it\u202fin the near future\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>are\u00a0ready to lead on and invest time in an internal strengthening process\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>can confirm that their activities will not violate the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/2339B\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USA PATRIOT Act<\/a>\u00a0(18 U. S.
