The European Commission\u2019s support for the production of this publication does not constitute an endorsement of the contents, which reflect the views only of the authors, and the Commission nor EACEA can be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ABOUT THE PROJECT<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The TC will have 24 youth worker\/trainer participants, 4 from each partner NGOs. The training will be led by experienced CDER trainers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of the ToT is to provide news literacy, critical thinking and media activism learning skills for the youth workers\/trainers from partner NGOs.&nbsp; After the ToT, they will be empowered to educate young people in news literacy and critical thinking by using blended learning. They will also perfect their writing skills and start writing for the TYM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the ToT, the participants will develop a range of knowledge and skills in the field of news literacy, critical thinking and media activism. They will learn: about news literacy and its importance to an individual and society; how media and journalism influenced society in the post-truth era; how to recognize manipulative media techniques; how to identify fake news, photos, video content, and social media accounts; what is information disorder, and what is information pollution?; what are algorithms, news feeds, filtered bubbles, and echo chambers?; what is the difference between bots, trolls, and cyborgs?; how to find the sources of reliable source information and how effectively to search the Web\u2026 and many more things that will significantly improve the quality of their understanding of the news and the use of social networks. They will also improve their critical thinking and skills to understand, interpret and critically evaluate media content, as well as practical skills to create media messages \u2013 in particular to write texts for the media. The participants will also be familiarized by the existing OER in the field of media literacy, and learn how to use the blended learning method in education; in concrete terms, how to educate young people in news literacy and critical thinking by using this method<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PROJECT OBJECTIVES<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Equipping participants with skills in news literacy and critical thinking:<\/strong>\u00a0Participants will be introduced to the key media concepts and get to cover topics like fake news, information disorder, media types, and responsible journalism.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enhancing participants\u2019 writing skills:<\/strong>\u00a0Participants will be engaged in practical writing exercises for publication. They will learn more about style, composition, and grammar.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Familiarizing participants with critical thinking principles:<\/strong>\u00a0Participants will explore tools and techniques to analyze media messages critically. They will practice critical thinking through exercises and different examples.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Promoting post-conflict reconciliation in the Balkans and EU values:<\/strong>\u00a0Participants will discuss reconciliation models, efforts, and human rights initiatives and further explore Balkan reconciliation efforts, achievements, and challenges.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fostering team spirit and creating a constructive work environment:<\/strong>\u00a0Throughout the project, cultural exchange, understanding, and empathy will be promoted among participants. Relaxation activities will be organized to enhance the overall learning experience.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PARTICIPANTS PROFILE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants would ideally meet the following criteria:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>possess certain media literacy\/activism knowledge or strong desire to acquire it;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to be creative, interested and capable to write media articles;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to be interested in youth policy, especially the problems of (Balkans\u2019) youth;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to be motivated to combat undemocratic incidents;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to be familiar with ICTs (to be able to use a computer and access social media);<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to be familiar with the current youth policy situation at local\/national\/international level, problems and needs of youth;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to be willing to cooperate with their Balkans colleagues;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>to be willing to participate in Project dissemination<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ACCOMMODATION, FOOD &amp; TRAVELLING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The ToT will be held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia \u2013 a city with a very turbulent history, great food and outstanding nightlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants will be accommodated in&nbsp;<strong>Palace Hotel Belgrade<\/strong>&nbsp;(<a href=\"https:\/\/palacehotel.rs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/palacehotel.rs\/<\/a>) \u2013&nbsp;<strong>the 4-star hotel located in the city center<\/strong>, in&nbsp;<strong>twin rooms<\/strong>&nbsp;(2 persons per room, in separate beds). Palace Hotel is located in the very heart of Belgrade, in the immediate vicinity of the main pedestrian zone, Knez Mihailova street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The training course will be held in the same hotel.
