Despite the different nature of short-term mobility for the purpose of a study, these learning periods spent in another learning and living environment lead to many benefits for the individuals; they widen horizons, broaden perspectives, increase skills and contribute to personal and professional growth of students embarking on a life-changing journey.

Erasmus+ programme

The biggest possibility of coming to Slovenia for a short-term learning mobility lays in the Erasmus+ programme, largest European programme in the field of education and training. The programme gives an opportunity to international students to study in Slovenia for a period of 3 to 12 months that is also financially supported. Student mobility (and also staff mobility) is possible within and also outside of European Union.How to do Erasmus?

Bilateral agreements

Another option for study exchange is a short-term mobility based on bilateral agreements that Slovenia has signed with many countries with the aim to support student exchange for a period of up to 10 months.

Bilateral agreements that address cooperation and mobility reciprocity in the field of higher education are signed with the following countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, People’s Republic of China, North Macedonia, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland and Turkey. CEEPUS exchange programme

Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies – CEEPUS, is an academic exchange programme for students and university teachers from Central Europe based on multilateral cooperation agreements in the fields of education and research. The third generation of CEEPUS programme is prologed for 7 more years untill April 30, 2025.

The main CEEPUS activity is based on university networks operating joint programmes, ideally leading to joint degrees. In addition to the mobility inside the networks, CEEPUS also supports mobility outside CEEPUS networks, the so-called freemover mobility.

Each CEEPUS country finances a certain number of scholarship months for the incoming mobility of students. Countries that take part in the programme are: Slovenia, Austria, Bulgaria, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Albania, Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Hungary.
