Cinema, youth and Mediterranean stories: non-formal education through film narratives

Seminar

3-8 December 2025 | Sant’Antioco, Sardinia, Italy

A thematic seminar within the Mediterranean short film festival “Passaggi d’Autore: intrecci mediterranei”, aimed at youth workers, educators, and artists exploring non-formal education and intercultural dialogue through cinema and storytelling.

The seminar takes place during Passaggi d’Autore – Intrecci Mediterranei, a long-running international short film festival held in Sant’Antioco, Sardinia. The training explores the role of cinema in non-formal education, youth empowerment, and intercultural understanding.

Participants will engage in screenings, debates with filmmakers from Euro-Mediterranean countries, and thematic workshops focusing on storytelling, identity, and youth challenges across the region.

The activity is designed for youth workers, project managers, trainers, educators, and cultural mediators interested in using film and creative tools in their practices. Sessions will highlight how Mediterranean short films reflect societal changes, youth perspectives, gender issues, and migration stories.

This experience aims to strengthen participants’ competences in visual literacy, critical thinking, intercultural communication, and to foster new transnational partnerships for projects combining cinema and youth work.

Working language: Italian (with interpretation support).

Participating countries: open to Erasmus+ Youth Programme Countries and Neighbouring Partner Countries from the Mediterranean area (e.g., Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt).

Accessibility: All festival venues are accessible.
